Legal Question in Family Law in New York
child support
A lawyer recently told us that because my husband's divorce papers say nothing about college or the age that his child support payments will end that he only has to pay until the kids are 18 and has no obligation to pay for college. Is any of that true?

Re: child support
If the papers do not mention either emancipation or college, then child support would end at 21 (pursuant to statute), but there would be no obligation to pay for college.
