Legal Question in Family Law in New York

child support

Long story short I have been in court since October 2000 fighting for my rights as a father for visitation. It ended on July 2006. Things were going my way in the beginning until my ex wife charged me with sexualabuse of my daughters.ACS got involved, and I was just plainly treated unfairly. There was some parental alienation which it cannot be proven. All I wanted was to be part of my daughters lives and that was all taken from me.My lawyer felt that I should not aappeal cause she might say other things which would just make me hurt even more.During that time I lost my mom and dad, and the only constant thing in my life were the girls. So I try to get my life in order with all my losses. Now out of the blue I get a letter in my job stating that I was an absent parent and I could not be located so they want child support taken. Now I am puzzled because during the court battle I requested child support to be paid to my daughters. But they told me that she has to file. She also changed their name to her maiden name.I have no clue where they are at.I am not disputing the child support claim when it goes through but way it was handled is wrong.I love my daughters, and I want to know what I can do about this. She wants to destroy my life.

Re: child support

The only remedy is to return to court and fight for your children. It is never too late and the longer you wait the harder it will be, but you already know this.

Good Luck.
