Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Child support

I`m marrying a man who has 2 children from a previous marriage. He regularly pays his child support. Since I earn more than my fiance can I held responsible?

Re: Child support

In certain circumstances a spouse can be held accountable for any and all outstanding debts and obligations a spouse may have, even if the obligations predate the marriage.

You need to have at least 2 consultations with an atty, prior to your marriage. You need full written financial disclosures for the two of you; and an open discussion about your respective financial status, before an atty.

GOOD LUCK,
