child support owed in nys

i owe $10,000 in child support. the divorce was messy still is.

i supported my wife and her other son for 7 years without getting and assistance from her x husband. the last few years, she was working more and making more. I left, and she took me to court for support. i refuse to make payments cause she is not a good mother and never has the kids much. she never send me anything to tell me how he's doing, she call the night before he is baptized, I'm jewish. never gets my gifts they are returned, the x husband wich is a violent criminal was jailed many times, takes my son for visitation, i haven't seen him in almost 2 years. the emotional damage to my son is great, i was the closest to him. She has talked bad about me to him. and he is a frightened boy. she leaves him home alone after school,till she gets home from work, he's 9.

She'll call me and yell at me for 30 min. telling me what a ---- i am. But never took her x to court. never help me pay a 15,000 IRS lein, helped to send her son to school, books,..... its a one way street. what can I do, Court is in NY i'm in FL.

Please help. not sure what to do.

If you didn't adopt her son then you are not legally responsible for him and you do not have to pay any child support. If you and your ex-wife had children and she has custody then you must pay child support for that child or children. Even if you feel she is not a good parent that does not relieve you of your obligation to pay child support. She could take you back to court on Contempt. If you feel that there is a real problem with her parenting then I suggest that you file the proper legal documents to seek custody of your child or children.
