The basis for discussion in New York is something called the Child Support Standards Act. However, courts frequently deviate from the Act.

How much child support you will or should pay is ultimately based on an analysis of how many children you have, how much money you and your spouse make, and a couple of other factors, all of which are too complicated to attempt to put in an internet post.
