Child Support

I am paying child support arrears for an emancipated child. Can the NYS Child Support Enforcement add additional amounts to my support without a hearing?

Re: Child Support

Emancipation is a legal term, and emancipation is usually by marriage, joining the armed services, moving out of the parents home, etc.

However, it must be established by a court of law for the child support to stop.

So the burden is on you. I would suggest that you go to court right away, for each week could be costing you money.
