Legal Question in Family Law in New York
Child support
If the child you are paying support to turns 18 and that same time she has a child, are you still obligated to pay child support? Does that make her emincipated?

Re: Child support
Generally, children are considered emancipated, such as to warrant termination of child support obligation, if they either (1) turn 21 years of age, or (2) attain economic independence or (3) are deemed constructively emancipated if, without cause, they withdraw from parental supervision and control.
