Your ex-wife needs to keep up a place for your daughter to live when she comes home from school. Even if she is living away. You can petition to reduce the amount you give your ex directly and have that portion go toward school costs but you will still have to pay your ex something toward preserving your child's home.

The court could by the way increase the amount you have to pay if the incomes call for that, such that you handle more of the college burden and still pay support.

I would speak to a qualified family law lawyer before I made a move on this. It is not something to do by yourself.
