Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Child support question..

My dad has been paying child support sence i was 13. He has been gone sence i was born. My mom does not make alot of money, so we requested help with collge tution. He dragged me through a long court battle lasting almost a year. We dropped the case becuase the laywer the court gave us didnt want to do anything and we eventually ran out of money to pay the other laywer. The last tactic he used was to protest paternity sence we had never done a test in the first place. I went along with it and it showed there was a 99.97% chance that i was his kid. Is there anyway i can go back on child support for the years he never paid. I heard sence he just challenged it that i can try and sue for back support. Thanks alot.

Re: Child support question..

You are entitled to receive child support, current and arrears, that may not have been paid and was Court Ordered.

However, you are not necessarily or usually "entitled" to College tuition.

Good luck,
