Legal Question in Family Law in New York
i have three children who would like to change their last names to my married name..I have sole legal physical custody of the children and they have had no contact and havent seen their father in 6 years. Would i beable to change the name without consent from him seeing how it has been so long? He does pay court ordered support..He also was recommended to do parenting and other classes but has refused. Also if the children change their name does that make him not pay his court ordered child support? I'm not asking for him to sign off right just the children have stressed their interest in a name change.

Changing their last names is not a good idea. Your divorce agreement may have a clause preventing the name change also.
