Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I have two children one is 22 will attend college next year, my daughter is 16 and in school. My husband is cheating on me and for 25 years I have been holding this situation. I have no job after he wanted me to moved to Arizona for a better life. He purchased a home for us, but he never move to the house. I returned back to New York and he is not very happy that I am back because I am here and he can't do what want to do with his mistress. One thing I want is child support and alimony. I want to know what are my options in my situation.

You may be entitled to alimony, child support, and a share of the marital assets. I strongly suggest you contact a lawyer to discuss your options.

You would not be entitled to child support for the 22 year old child. If you have custody of the 16 year old, you would be entitled to child support.

In terms of cheating, that is grounds for the divorce. There also may be other grounds, however, I am not able to tell based on your question.

NY does not award alimony. It is called maintenance. Based on you question it seems that you have a long term marriage, and gave up your job to preserve the family. Therefore, you would probably receive maintenance. However, there are many factors to determine maintenance and it is impossible to give you a specific answer to your question.
