Legal Question in Family Law in New York

The child's age to deside who they what to live with.

How old does the child need to be to make a decision where they want to live? My child is twelve this year, and she has expressed that she wants to live with me, and her sister, here in Florida. I was wondering how old she needed to be before the judge would take her desire to live with me in to consideration.

Re: The child's age to deside who they what to live with.

At age 16, it is absolute

At age 14, the child is seriously considered

At age 12, the child may express an opinion

but unless it independently falls into the

best interest analysis, it does not have to be

followed.
