Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Child's Age

How much weight does a child's age carry when a non custodial parent, who has been absent for almost all of the child's life, pushes for long distance visitation? If the child is mature and states valid reasons for not wanting to go, is this listened to by the courts?

Re: Child's Age

The court does listen depending on the child's age. A child 17 years will have a greater say than a child 5 years.
