Legal Question in Family Law in New York
College expenses
my divorce contract states that my exwife is ''soul custodial parent.'' it also states with regards to college, '' as an additional item of support for the benefit of the children, the husband and wife agree to be equally responsible for one half of each child's college education expenses subject to the financial circumstances which exist at that time.
my question is this. will the courts require me to pay half of college expenses, in addition to paying maximum child support for three children, and a step son who is attending college? i make $42,000. annually, i pay for all medical/dental coverage.

Re: College expenses
College education is an add-on to child support. Most of the time your agreement will have a paragraph that will state that you are responsible for a pro rata share or equal share of college, with a cap in spending (usually the price of a SUNY education). Read the agreement carefully. It should state clearly what you are responsible for.
