Legal Question in Family Law in New York
contempt
1997 divorce decree states if ex gets remarried has to repay me settlement agreement of ten thousand dollars. in 2006 i put on a piece of paper that debt was satisfied pretty much against my will. ex got remarried in 2007. can i file contempt for that money. he never filed that notarized statement with courts. i was told that that would not hold up in court

Re: contempt
You are asking about documents we do not have, and your explanation for signing the release/satisfaction is way to vague to consider. An opinion that it "won't hold up in court" is meaningless unless it came from a qualified professional, so the best thing you can do is see a lawyer who handles these cases.
Re: contempt
Just because he didn't file it then doesn't mean he can't show it to the judge if you file a contempt. Consult with a local attorney. All the documents need to be reviewed.
