Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Contempt Hearing - Can the Judge Force Me to Pay Transcript fees?

My ex wife has filed motions in NY Supreme court to hold me in contempt of our Divorce judgementand to try to take my 1/2 of our Marital Residence away from me. The Original Judge referred us over to a Judicial Hearing Officer who heard 3 days of Trial and now it must go back to the Original Judge with an Opinion and to continue. I have been Told that I must Pay approx $2000.00 for the Transcript needed to present back to the original Judge so that this case can Proceed. I DID NOT BRING THIS ACTION. I DO NOT CARE IF IT PROCEEDS AND I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY OR CREDIT AVAILABLE TO PAY THIS.

Can this Judicial Hearing Officer Force me to Pay for Transcripts for a case that if it Proceeds may only hurt me. It Seems like they want to Hang Me and want me to pay for the rope and the trip to the noose.ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED THERE IS A LOT OF INTIMIDATION AND WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE ILLEGAL PRACTICES GOING ON HERE.

Re: Contempt Hearing - Can the Judge Force Me to Pay Transcript fees?

It you elect not to participate the court may find you in default and rule against you. If you refuse to obey an order, including an order to pay certain fees, you may be held in contempt. I practice in NYC and the surrounding counties and I am available for a confidential consultation. Roland Acevedo (212) 371-4500
