Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Custodial Parent is considering marriage

I am divorced and the custodial parent for my child. The father has remarried and is having child support monies deducted from his salary. If I should decide to marry again before my child is of legal age, will that event terminate the child support before my child is age 18?

No. Unless the new husband adopts the child of the previous relationship.

Re: Custodial Parent is considering marriage

A custodial parent's marriage does not affect the child support due from the non custodial parent.

Child Support, as distinct from Spousal Support, continues until the "child" reaches 21 or is emancipated.

GOOD LUCK,
