Legal Question in Family Law in New York
I am custodian for an UGMA account for my son. He is 7 years. I don't want the responsibility as my mother in law wants to tell me what to do. and I don't want to be always in confrontation with her. I just doing nothing right now and she thinks I am not being responsible. Can i legally delegate the custodian responsibility to someone else.

The custodian may be "the donor or any member of the family of the minor or any guardian... (NY Jur2d Gifts section 84)." Therefore, you would be able to resign to have your mother in law (the child's grandmother) be the custodian of the account.
