Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Custody, visitation

I have filed for a uncontested divorce after a 2yr seperation(not Legal) from my husband, papers still not served to him. I thought it would be a simple divorce as i was willing to give any visitation to my ex he wanted and thought he was ok with my full custody. Now he is hiring a lawyer I'm not sure why? I am on a very limited income and the sole supporter of our 5 kids, should I be looking to hire a lawyer

Once a divorce becomes contested divorce process it is strongly suggested that a person hire an attorney.

Re: Custody, visitation

Overall, the concerns in such a situation are the custody of the children, visitation, child support, etc. - I'll put it to you this way, hiring an attorney in such a case is just as important as these issues I've just mentioned to you are. You obviously seem like a good parent, and a good supporter for your children, so hiring an attorney should be equally as important to you - as all of these things are dependant on the outcome of this case.
