Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Ex dating on internet

I share joint custody of my 2 children with my ex-wife. She met someone over the internet in a nearby city and plans to bring the children for a sleepover there. My ex has been seeing him for about 2 months but has never been to his home. He has told her where he works, but I called there and they never heard of him. My ex refuses to listen. I want at least an address of where he lives, but she refuses to give that to me. she says I have her cell # and that is sufficient. I doubt I have been given his real name. I feel this is a safety issue. Do I have any options?

Absolutely. You should go to the Family court and demand a hearing on weather she can go out of town with the kids in this situation. Be sure of your facts. You might want to consult with a lawyer. If you cannot find one that will fight for you or take your concerns seriously, take a look at Avvo.com and see if you can find someone with a good rating in your home vacinity.

Good Luck

What each parent does during their time with the children is ordinarily their own business. The judgment specifying custody may address these issues. If not, you need to consider whether it's worth going back to court - it certainly may be, especially if your ex-wife continues to withhold information
