Legal Question in Family Law in New York

My daughters mother is taking me to court for an increase in child support. If I hire an attorney and she chooses to also hire an attorney is it true that I have to pay for the first $2,500 of her attorney fees?

What amount you will have to pay, if any, will be determined by the court, if your wife makes a motion seeking to have her attorneys' fees paid. There is no hard and fast rule on whether there will be any award of attorney fees, much less a rule stating that you have to pay the first $2500.
