Legal Question in Family Law in New York

who gets the deceased IRA?

My ex-husband and I were married 18 years. Our divorce was amicable but being in NY State, I as defendant, agreed to 'abandonment' and 'uncontested' divorce. He passed away one month ago. The beneficiaries on his IRA are his relatives. Their lawyer wanted me to sign a waiver which I refused. Is it possible that I have a right to his IRA?

Possible but highly unlikely. Speak to a lawyer immediately.

Good Luck.
