Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I am currently disabled and on the list for a kidney transplant,but i would like to get divorced from my husband and if i do will i be able to still be covered by him on his medical insurance. because if i dont they will take me off the list , because medicare is just not enough. they took me off before when he wasnt working. also i wanted to know if you are married can you receive child support from your spouse?

Upon divorce you are entitled to medical insurance under COBRA. For more information concerning COBRA, see www.cobrainsurance.com.

To answer your second question, if you are married you may receive child support from your spouse. You would simply make application to the Family Court.

Your coverage will continue after your divorce.

You can petition the court in your county for child support.
