Legal Question in Family Law in New York

In a divorce action do the parties HAVE to exchange their evidence prior to Trial? Like can me or my spouse present evidence at trial that the other party has not yet gotten to see, or is trial the first chance that I will get to see my spouse's evidence? I only ask because it seems unfair that he could bring a whole bunch of surprise evidence to trial that I would have no opportunity to prepare counterarguments to...

If a discovery request was filed, or the court has ordered exchange of information, you must comply. Financial information must be filed with the court and exchanged with the other party.
