Legal Question in Family Law in New York
divorce appeal
can a divorce be appealed? This divorce is contested and there has been numerous meetings in court. Now it is going to trial since one of the spouses requested it. There are no children or property. The disagreement is about credit card debt. There is an ''offer'' to split the debt 54 -46. The spouse that was ''offered'' the 46% part of the debt is the one who wants to take it to trial, e v e n after the judge said: the best you can hope for in a trial is a ''50-50 split'' of the debt. Could the reason for taking the divorce to trial be that it then can be appealed? And this process can go on for ...ever?

Re: divorce appeal
The reason most divorce proceedings, are contested and continued overlong is because one or both of the parties has not completed the "emotional, pychological and monetary separation from the other party and 'THE MARRIAGE'
It rarely has anything to do with THE money, except to the extent ' the money' represents what is left of the "connection" with the other party AND THE MARRIAGE.
You don't need to concern yourself with your soon to be Ex's threats about continuing to Appeal, etc.. It is merely your Ex's attempt to appear to be in control of something.... your life....., while feeling totally out of contol.
