Legal Question in Family Law in New York
Divorce Case
I am deaf. I try my best to explain this letter. Last year I went to court for divorce. My children live with me. My ex husband does not let me get out of New York State. I can't move out to other state because divorce paper said that. Now I really want to move to Arizona. My family live there. I want to close to them. I want to go back to court again and tell the judge that I want to move out. I don't have a job. I earn low income. I can't afford to pay lawyer fee again. Where can I find legal aid for free? Will the judge let me get out of New York? My ex husband and his mother said many bad things to me. They are vocal abuse to me. They even told my kids bad things about me. How can I stop them to say bad things?

Your ex-husband cannot legally prevent you from leaving NY State, what he can do is prevent you from taking your children out of state. As for the other questions and issues I suggest you contact the Legal Aid Society in the County where you reside.
Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can call my office to schedule an appointment for a consultation or in the alternative, I can be reached for on-phone low-cost legal consultation at 1-800-275-5336 x0233699.

I would like to help you however the economics preclude it Therefore the next best thing is to direct you to your areas legal services programs which offer legal assistance to the indigent they are listed in the phone directory. Another option is a womens group dealing with abused females, they too may offer legal assistance. Good luck.
