Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Divorce and Disability

My mother had a serious stroke a year ago. She is still physically and mentally incapacitated. My father has been very supportive of her until recently when he informed us that he is in love with a woman 30 years his junior. My parents live in the state of New York and I live in England. Is there anything I can do to protect my mother's assets and interests?

Re: Divorce and Disability

Yes. You can seek to have a conservator appointed to protect her assets. This is, however, not a routine or easy process, and unless the assets you seek to protect are substantial, the costs may outweigh any financial benefits.

If I can be of assistance, or if you'd like to discuss the matter further, please feel free to get in touch.
