Legal Question in Family Law in New York

My fiance files for divorce from his wife in April

of '99. His wife left him after only a month of

marriage approximatly 3 1/2 years ago. We would

like to get married as soon as possible after thew

divorce is final and his current lawyer says it is

only in a matter of time. Do we legally have to

wait to be married or can we do it as soon as

possible?

You have to wait. You can only have one valid marriage at a time.
