divorce filing
if a couple gets married in las vegas, lives in new york but does not file the marriage in new york do they file for divorce in new york even if there is nothing on record?

If you meet the residence requirements of New York, you may obtain a divorce here, even if the marriage took place somewhere else.

They can file for divorce in NY if they have been living together here for at least a year immediately prior to filing, or if they meet any of the other criteria set forth in the DRL. Consult an attorney with the details of your situation for proper advice.
