Legal Question in Family Law in New York

divorce and health insurance

On March 15 my divorce came

through. My ex has been

unemployed for 8 years so I was

supporting him. He got disability for

his many health issues after I left.

He was on my teacher's health

insurance plan until the date of

divorce.

He kept getting treatment out of

network, refusing the high bills, and

forwarding them to me. Am I still

obligated to pay any of his health

bills that have arrived after 3/15? If

the treatment was dated prior to

March 15 do I still have to pay it

even though I have been divorced

since that date?

Re: divorce and health insurance

It's impossible to answer your question without reviewing your settlement agreement and/or the order granting your divorce. The handling of these matters is ordinarily specified in one or both of those documents.
