Divorce while husband is deployed?

I have recently learned that my husband not only slept with my best friend, but at least one other woman while we were married. He has admitted that he did this. He is currently in the Army and deployed. He is telling me that I cannot legally divorce him while he is deployed? Is this true? Can I at least begin the proceedings? We are stationed in NY but our 1 year old son and I are staying with my mother in Virginia while my husband is deployed.

The short answer to your question is yes. You cannot divorce your husband while he is deployed. You cannot even begin the proceedings while he is deployed.
