Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Hello, I would like to get a divorce from my husband. We have been separated for 6 months now and i currently moved to NY (November 26th 2010). My husband is a resident of Florida and currently resides there. He said he would file for the divorce but hasn't done it yet. I would like to get the divorce process started immediately because I am tired of waiting for him to do it. I found out I don't meet the residency requirements for NY to file a divorce. Are there any ways around this residency requirement? What can I do?

You need to be able to say that you have lived in NY for one year (along with other circumstances), or two years. There is no real way around this. If you'd like to discuss, feel free to call me at 212-913-9907. The consultation is free.
