Legal Question in Family Law in New York

divorce

i live in new york state . do i need to have a legal separation filed to get divorced. we have been living apart since 1999. we both want the divorce. no problems with child custody or support or maritial property. just a simple divorce

No you do not, you can file on grounds of abandonment.
