Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Divorce

My niece has been separated from her husband for almost five years. They own a house. The husband has not paid any alimony or paid any mortgage since they separated.

I was told by a friend that if he has not paid anything toward the house for five years he is no longer entitled to his share of the house.

They are no children involved.

I was wondering if this can be true.

Your niece will need to take action to get the title to the house changed. You have to take action; these things don't just change with time.

Re: Divorce

Most likely, depending on what state your live in and certain facts of the case, your niece's husband will still be entitled to "his share" of the house, minus certain credits and debits that may be applied and deducted.
