Legal Question in Family Law in New York

divorce settlement

In 1990 the judge in my divorce trial awarded my wife of 8 months $10,000 cash that I was to pay and awarded me all of her credit card bills. I never paid either. I was never contacted by the credit card companies and nothing shows up on my credit report. She never filed a lien against me. Is there a statute of limitations in NY for the 10,000 cash?If not, what would she be entitled to?And if she is entitled can she just remove the cash from any of my bank accounts?

Re: divorce settlement

A Judgment is for 20 years from the date entered. If Judgment was entered in 1990, your wife would have until 2010 to enforce the Judgment.

Like any other Judgment, your ex can enforce through a property execution. In other words, she may remove the money from your bank accounts.
