Legal Question in Family Law in New York
divorce
My wife and I are looking to get divorced. We have two infants in a house we have lived in for one year. The house is more than we can afford in my opinion. She wants me to leave since she makes almost double what I make and claims she can afford the house. We both work full time and I spend every day with my kids when I get home she gets home later. She has become more abusive mentally and physically. She starts fights and has hit me in front of the children, she spends most of her time watching tv or on facebook instead of spending time with the kids. I have never hit her back because I know better but she doesn't care when I threaten to call the cops on her because she knows as a man I won't. I am also worried about my kids because she is unpredictable in the past she has tried to jump out of a moving car and the 5th floor window of our old apt. She has hit me as I held our baby and can't control herself to stop fighting in front of our kids. We never talk at home she just leaves notes around. I feel like I am at a disadvantage because first I'm a man and secondly she is a Doctor and that impresses everyone. We have no extra money because she spends it all even if I wanted to leave. Do I have any rights
