Legal Question in Family Law in New York
Not yet divorced, Wife took kids to Canada with unknown boyfriend
My wife and I are not legally divorced yet. We made our own arrangements for sharing the kids. 50%/50% She made plans with a boyfriend that I do not know to take a trip to Canada. This was her weekend with the kids. However, she originally lied and said it was a business trip and tried to get me to help her with the kids this weekend so she could go by herself. I told her that I could not and without asking me ..took the kids to Canada. She left me a message with no address and no location. Just her cell phone number. My attorney said that she can do this. I find that hard to believe. Could someone help me protect this from happening again.

Your current attorney knows how to do this. You need to petition the court for a temporary order to restrict future travel. It is a motion made on notice and is not difficult.
