Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I have been divorced for 6 years, our decree includes an agreement for my ex to claim 1 of our 2 children on his taxes for specified years. The circumstances under which I made this agreement have changed and I would like to know if I can modify it and if so how? I need to know if I HAVE to have a lawyer to do this as funds are short.

You would be able to modify the agreement with consent from your ex. The modification must be in writing, signed by both parties and acknowledged in the same manner as your divorce agreement.
