Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I am divorced in New York and have joint custody of my 5yr old son. Do I lose joint custody if I move to another state?

I am going to presume that you are not the physical custodial parent but have legal joint custody. If this is the case then no, you do not loose custody if you relocate, but visitation will be your responsibility. Your ex-spouse will not be required to make the visitation easier unless you can get them to agree. You should talk to them and explain how important this is and how it can benefit your child.
