Legal Question in Family Law in New York

i'm divorced 5 yrs & my x is closing his business. i am to get 1/2 of taxi madalion at rate it was in '05. Will I have to pay capitol gains taxes on my share. it's in NyC & i'm living in FL? then i get no more alomony.I file in Fl. & am on disability.

The answer to your tax question may depend on what the payment is for. Is it a lump sum alimony payment or a payment for one half of the business. Speak to your accountant and he can best advise you of the tax consequences.
