GET TO A LAWYER. If the case has been filed, it should be handled by an attorney Pronto. If you cannot afford an attorney, contact the local legal aid society, the local Bar for its referral service (they often have a sliding scale service for divorces) and all of the local law schools at least those in the county in which the action is filed. Many have clinics that will take on cases for indigent clients.
Finally do not try to handle this yourself, even if it is to be uncontested and there are no kids and little property there are a multitude of ways this can screw up your future. Answering the action is one of the easiest things to do. If you don't know how to do this, the rest is reasonable beyond your ability right now. I am not saying you cannot learn. But you should not be practicing on yourself.
As Abraham Lincoln said "a man who acts as his own attorney, has a fool for a client." Do Not Be Foolish!!
Good Luck
Re: duvirce
The previous advice is good advice. Your response to the papers you've been served will affect your rights, and should be handled carefully.
Unless it is an uncontested divorce with no issues of child support, custody or distribution of money and/or property, you should contact an attorney immediately. If I can be of help. please give me a call.
