Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Emancipation

I am 16 years old and would like to become emancipated. I would like to know how to go about that. Right now i am currently living with my older sister. I left my house but i wanted to go back and now my mother is not allowing me to go back. I would like to register into school where i am currently living but i need her help but she refuses to help me. That is why i would like to become emancipated. Can you please give me legal advice?

Re: Emancipation

You may File an Emancipation Petition in the Family Court in the county, where you now live.

Go early in the AM. Just go in, with your docs, such as birth certificate, financial plan, school info and so forth. You usually do not need an appointment.

Good luck,
