New York's equitable distribution law means what it says - it requires an "equitable" distribution of marital property. Determining what is equitable in your case requires a detailed review of the economic transactions during the course of your marriage.

You should consult with an attorney to evaluate your situation. The cost of the consultation will be far less than the cost of making a mistake by trying to do it yourself.
