Legal Question in Family Law in New York
AM i entitled to anything?
I have been with the same man for 14 years we never married. We also have 2 children (14 & 9). This man has put me through alot of crap during 14 years....cut me off from all friends, family, told me what to wear, where I can go and for how long, mental abuse and in the past physical, not allowed job, and more. I have been recieving hate mail from someone saying hateful things. Now we both pretty much hate each other, there is no sexual contact for over a year. I have been saving money to get out with my kids. I starting working at a school luch monitor but only make $150 biweekly,so I havent saved much. I know I can recieve child support but am I entitled to anything else?

Re: AM i entitled to anything?
Although, you DO NOT have a "wife's" standing, share or interest in your partner's property, you might be able to recover direct or actual contributions YOU made to value of your partner's property, from your own income, assets or property. Also, any gifts, personal or separate property your partner may have "given" you, during your time together, remains your separate property, that you are entitled to keep.
Additionally, you should note, Basic Child support for 2 children, per the statutue, is 25% of the non custodial parent's CSSA income (ie., the gross income is reduced ONLY by FICA & Medicare). "Add Ons," may be payments "ADDED" to "Basic Child Support" payments. And, they may include a pro rata share of things like, tuition, summer camp, daycare, babysitting, etc..
Good luck,
