Estranged wife's rights to assets on new girlfriend

Over 10 years ago a happily married man came home to find that his wife had left him and she filed for divorce. There has been alot of legal fighting since (there was a child to fight over) but there has been no final divorce. The man now lives with another woman but this remains a great secret. The man insists on this remaining a secret because he frears that his estranged wife can go after the assets of his new lady. Is this possible?
