Legal Question in Family Law in New York
My ex-wife delivered divorce papers to my place of employment and I was immediately evicted from my home and from seeing my children. I was underemployed living in my truck not able to hire an attorney. She was awarded half of the equity in the home and able to lock up my half until all child and spousal support was paid. My half equaling $70,000. The support order was for close to $3,000. per month and my income being disabled has only been about $15,000 per year. I still can't afford an attorney. How do I contest this past order and stop further damage.

You have to appeal the Order from the Court. This requires filing a Notice of Appeal. The notice must be served and filed within thirty days after "service by a party upon the appellant of a copy of the judgment or order appealed from and written notice of its entry" (CPLR 5513).
