Legal Question in Family Law in New York

false income tax returns and discovery

It has just come to my attention that my husband has submittted a bogus income tax return with his discoveries ...the informtation provided on this return concerning his business expenses are totally false and involves many thousands of dollars ..... It is not clear whether he acutally filed this return with the government or just produced this phoney return to comply with discovery. Will this information be turned over to the judge and what will be the ramification of his actions. Is there a way for him to amend this information without suffering any ramification ? Thank you for your time

Re: false income tax returns and discovery

This is a common event and your lawyer will know how to handle it.

The key is to have some documentary evidence to show that it is inaccurate. He may amend (change) once without unpleasant ramifications, but a second such error will weigh heavily against him.
