Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Family Court decision

I took my ex husband to court to modify child support and include college expenses for our youngest son who is 18 and in his first year of college. My ex also owed me 2 years worth of medical expenses and health insurance costs. This was in June 07. I have no decision from the judge yet! My lawyer says she is reluctant to contact the court and rush the judge to a ''bad'' decision. Meanwhile, I'm paying for the college costs myself and have no relief of what is owed for medical bills. Any suggestions?
