Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I am the boyfriend of girl who is being taken to court in a custody hearing by her former boyfriend. The former boyfriend is seeking more custody. Can he and his lawyer have me barred from any pre trial court appearances with the judge present for any reason? what reasons would they be and how would I get around that if possible?

Family Court is open to the public. However, it may not be a good idea for you to be present. I would talk to your girlfriends attorney and ask if it will cause a problem for your girlfriend if you appear in Family Court.
