Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Family Law

My mom who is bipolar and has been

sick for several years now is

currently in psych ward because she

was not taking medications that she

is supposed to take every day to

remain stable.Her husband who is

supposed to be in charge of her well

being and her meds apparently was

not giving them to her properly or

maybe not even at all for at least a

month This is the second time this

has happened and as her child(ren)

are hands are tied becuse we do not

live with her and dont really now

what goes on in her home except for

what she tells us .Legally is there a

way her husband can be court

ordered to give her pills this way if

something happens to her he is held

responsible? My family has had such

a hard time with this man who

married my mom secretly to get his

citizenship and has taken full

advantage of her illness he is not

around now that she is in the

hospital but we are certain he will

come back once she is released

Because he is legally married to her

we are not really sure what to do

Any advice because he will not allow

us to be there every day to give her

meds but apparently he not doing it

either please help

Re: Family Law

He will not be ordered to give her her medication. You may need to petition the court to have a guardian appointed for her.
